Dan Pink: What Really Motivates Workers

by | Employee Engagement & Staff Retention, Leadership

In this interview Dan explains that the things that make a difference to employees’ motivation level are free. He gives examples. Beyond the basics of an OK salary, people are more motivated by:

  • Autonomy – Have some say over the work they do

  • Mastery – Get a sense of making progress

  • Purpose – See their work as part of a bigger vision

It would be great for you to share some comments about examples of when you’ve been motivated and when you haven’t and how these concepts have played out in your experience.
