Advisory Board

Mike Blumenfeld

Mike Blumenfeld has over forty years of management experience working with and for companies of varied size and structure, from small family-owned ventures at some of the largest publicly held corporations around the world.

He has served as vice president of three retail chains with line responsibility for store operations, administration, management information systems, warehousing, distribution and personnel. He was manager of retail consulting for Ernst & Whinney (now Ernst & Young) and Vice President of the Garr Consulting Group (subsidiary of Deloitte Touche). He formed Myron I. Blumenfeld & Associates in 1981.

Mr. Blumenfeld holds a B.S. degree in Economics from the Wharton School and earned his M.B.A. from New York University, where he also served as an adjunct professor and as a volunteer mentor/advisor to teams competing in NYU’s annual entrepreneurial business plan competition. He is a long-time supporter of the American Women’s Economic Development Corp. (AWED), and WIBO (Workshop in Business Opportunity), both non-profit organizations that provide training and support for entrepreneurs in the underserved communities of New York. He has served on the Board of Directors of both organizations and has taught, counseled and mentored hundreds of entrepreneurs to help them start, manage and grow their businesses profitably.

Dr. Andrea Simon

Andrea Simon, Ph.D., principal and founder of Simon Associates Management Consultants (SAMC), has over twenty years’ experience as a senior executive with financial services and healthcare institutions.

Dr. Simon’s expertise lies in helping companies and non-profit institutions develop their brand positioning, redesign their organization’s culture, and improve their financial performance through innovative and effective product development and marketing. She is particularly effective at understanding how customers really see, feel, and think about a company’s products, services, and customer experience. SAMC was formed to bring the insights of ethno-marketing, the tools of managing change in diverse industries, and the observations garnered from anthropological research to small and mid-size companies, entrepreneurs, and start-up businesses. Through her cross-industry approach, Dr. Simon is able to bring about innovative, quantifiable solutions.

Dr. Simon’s expertise was developed partially in academia and partially by running companies that needed to change. She has been a professor of Anthropology and American Studies at Ramapo College where she produced two distance-learning TV series for Sunrise Semester on CBS. She was also a visiting professor at Washington University, teaching Entrepreneurship. Her business experience includes positions as Executive Vice President at First National Bank of Highland (a division of M&T Bank), Senior Vice President at Poughkeepsie Savings Bank, and Senior Executive in management, marketing, and branding at other financial services companies and healthcare institutions—including Citibank, NatWest Bank, Montefiore Medical Center, and St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center. In all of her executive positions, she has successfully led companies in changing their business and economic environments. Since change is truly pain, her accomplishments were extraordinary, irrespective of the industry or management team.
