GSK (Glaxo Smith Kline), a pharmaceutical company, needs trained project managers to lead various projects, especially in two critical areas: new drug development projects and clinical trials projects. Developing their new products is the source of all revenues for them and completing clinical trials more efficiently allows for faster government approval of new drugs and earlier market penetration.
Because of the importance of these projects, it is important to GSK to have each project manager trained at an advanced level and be certified as a PMP, Project Management Professional. To be certified, each individual must pass a stringent test issued by the Project Management Institute (PMI). The 180-question exam verifies expertise in people, process, and business environment domains.
