Law Partner Overcomes Risk Aversion to Career Change

A partner at an international law firm was dealing with a choice: to stay with his current company where he felt he had reached his potential, or to go to new firm. He was strongly risk-averse, so it was a real dilemma for him, and he struggled with it for months.

How We Helped

Paula coached the client one-on-one using her proprietary methodology that involved brain/body integration.

The coaching exercises and their application to the client’s questions made clear the obstacles that were preventing the client from making a decision.

Results Achieved

  • After just a few sessions, he was able to see the advantages of the new position and decided to move on. He had been secretly frustrated that he had not been promoted to an even higher position in his current company.
  • He realized he felt stagnant and possibly had reached the limit of his opportunities there. He started to value the new areas of work in the new company. As the new position started to feel more attractive, his resistance to change diminished and he was able to make a decision to accept the new position.
