New Executive Director Gains Confidence to Lead

A newly appointed Executive Director at a national religious organization was encouraged by the executive board to engage in leadership coaching. Simultaneously, the organization was undertaking a significant governance model revision — moving toward Policy Governance — creating additional complexity for the new leader.

How We Helped

9-month executive coaching engagement using a structured leadership development program.

The coach also advised the board on the implications of adopting Policy Governance and the steps needed to implement it effectively.

Results Achieved

  • The ED gained clarity on priorities, improved time management, developed confidence in her leadership role, and became knowledgeable about Policy Governance implementation.
  • Communication between the ED and the board improved considerably.
  • The board is moving forward with the governance transition.
"The most significant result of the coaching work we did together is the confidence I feel to assert myself in leading the organization. I feel a sense of freedom and competence to lead the organization and an optimism about our collective ability to make a meaningful difference."
Gayle N., Executive Director, National Religious Organization
